On Saturday, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth reported receiving a ransom threat demanding ₹50 lakh, accompanied by a life-threatening message from an unknown number. Despite the grave nature of the threat, Seth stated that he remained unfazed and has called for a thorough investigation into the matter by the state government.
The ransom demand was conveyed via message, with the sender threatening harm to Seth. Sources suggest the threat could be related to cyber or telephonic extortion, a growing concern for public figures. Authorities have already reviewed Seth’s security, with additional precautions being considered as part of the protocol.
Sanjay Seth, a senior BJP leader from Jharkhand, has long served in public office and currently holds a significant portfolio in the Ministry of Defence. Officials noted that threats against public representatives like Seth are often linked to intimidation or extortion attempts.
The Delhi and Jharkhand Police have been alerted, and investigations are underway to address the matter and ensure Seth’s safety.
