In a significant move, four new faces were inducted into the cabinet of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Senior BJP leaders Prashant Phukan, Rupesh Goala, Kaushik Roy, and Krishnendu Paul took oath as ministers during a special swearing-in ceremony at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office to the four leaders. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was present at the ceremony to witness the induction of the new ministers.
This cabinet expansion comes amid speculation of a major reshuffle in Dr. Sarma’s cabinet. The inclusion of leaders such as Prashant Phukan, Rupesh Goala, Krishnendu Paul from Barak, and Kaushik Roy reflects the ongoing developments within the state government. The reshuffle is expected to bring further changes in the political landscape of Assam.
”Congratulations to all my colleagues who have taken oath today. Looking forward to working with them to fulfil Adarniya Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of a Viksit Assam”, the chief minister posted on X.
