Telugu cinema star Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in relation to the tragic stampede that took place at Sandhya Theatre on December 4 during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident resulted in the death of a woman and severe injuries to her young son.
Following his arrest, Allu Arjun was taken to the hospital for a medical test. The actor, who had earlier approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIR against him, requested an urgent hearing regarding his case.
The police investigation, which began after the incident, led to the arrest of three individuals, with Allu Arjun being taken into custody as well. L. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Chikkadpally, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, he (Actor Allu Arjun) has been arrested.”
Police registered a case under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) r/w 3(5) BNS against Allu Arjun, his security team and the management of the theatre.
The actor was brought to the Chikkadpally police station for questioning. Present during the proceedings were Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind; his brother, Allu Sirish; and his father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy.
The arrest has sparked controversy, with several public figures expressing differing views on the matter.
