The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has officially declared the results of the Combined Competitive Examination 2023, with Chiranjeev Phukan emerging as the top scorer. Phukan, a First Class B Tech graduate from NIT Silchar, secured an impressive 872 marks, taking the first position. Following him, Anisha Buragohain, a post-graduate from the London School of Economics, claimed the second position with 823 marks.
Seven women feature among the top 10 successful candidates, highlighting the remarkable performance of female aspirants in this year’s examination.
The top 10 toppers of the APSC 2023 include Chiranjeev Phukan, who secured the first position with 872 marks. He is a First Class B Tech graduate from NIT Silchar. Himandri Jita Bora, a JRF scholar and post-graduate from JNU, Delhi, secured the third position, while Mrigakhi Baruah, a graduate and post-graduate from Delhi University, claimed the fourth spot. Tutumani Kakati from Muguria, Bajali, secured the fifth position. The remaining top scorers in positions 6 through 10 include Mridusmita Ray from Goalpara, Mary Kalita from Bongaigaon, Diksha Sarkar from Sribhumi, Nilam Garg from Lakhimpur, and Ankita Chettri from West Karti Anglong.
The APSC has recommended 235 candidates for appointment to various prestigious services, including Assam Civil Services (ACS), Assam Police Services (APS), and allied services. Notably, this year marks the first time that posts have been reserved for the Moran and Motak communities.

Additionally, 11 candidates have been recommended for the position of Inspecting Auditor, while 1 candidate each has been selected for Superintendent of Taxes and Superintendent of Excise. Thirteen candidates have been recommended for the Assam Finance Service, 6 for Block Development Officer, and 4 each for Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Inspector of Taxes, and Inspector of Labour. Finally, 1 candidate has been recommended for Assistant Employment Officer, and 3 candidates for the role of Sub Registrar.
This year’s examination process, which began with the preliminary exams in March 2024, has been completed in a record time of nearly 8 months, marking a milestone in efficiency for the commission.
A total of 67,251 candidates applied for the examination, with students from diverse disciplines across the state placing their trust in the APSC’s transparent and fair recruitment process. This year’s success story reflects the aspirations and talent of Assam’s youth, as they continue to shine in competitive exams and contribute to the growth of the state’s public services.
