In a tragic accident on Gujarat’s Bhavnagar-Somnath Highway early Tuesday, six people lost their lives when a private bus collided with a stationary dumper.
The bus, traveling from Surat to Rajula (Amreli), crashed into the dumper parked on the side of National Highway 8E. The impact was devastating, causing one side of the bus to be completely crushed. Rescue teams had to cut through the bus to retrieve the bodies.
Six passengers were confirmed dead, and over 15 others were seriously injured in the crash. The injured were rushed to Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital in Bhavnagar for treatment. Authorities fear the death toll may rise, as some of the injured are in critical condition.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, while local police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. This tragic incident adds to the growing number of accidents on Gujarat’s highways as winter sets in, raising concerns about road safety.
