In a significant move to support disadvantaged women, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced an expansion of the Orunodoi scheme in Assam. The number of beneficiaries under the scheme will be increased across the state.
As part of the process, Orunodoi Beneficiary Meetings will be held in various areas from the 15th to 28th of December. Previous beneficiaries are required to submit their names during these meetings to continue receiving benefits under the scheme. Failure to register will result in exclusion from the scheme until the upcoming Assembly elections.
Additionally, new beneficiaries will be selected after nominations in the village assemblies, ensuring that the scheme reaches more eligible individuals. This expansion aims to provide continued support to those in need, especially women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
