Top ULFA-I faction leader Himalay Asom surrenders on 16th October 2021 to Assam Police. Himalay Asom joined the ULFA in 1996 from the Sibsagar district of Assam and he will be the third top leaders from ULFA-I to surrender after Drishti Rajkhowa and Jibon Moran.
Himalay Asom is the alias used by Jugen Mili and decided o quit militancy and join mainstream. The news of Jugen Mili quitting militancy has brought a sigh of relief for the Assam Police who have been working day and night to bring down militancy in Assam.
It will be interesting to see what will be the next move of the surrendered ULFA-I leader and what steps would be taken by the State Government on his surrender and any future surrenders in the future.
