Three flights originating from Mumbai were disrupted on Monday due to bomb threats, sparking heightened security measures at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Two of the affected flights were operated by IndiGo, and the third was an Air India flight.
One of the bomb threats was received by Air India Flight AI119, which was scheduled to fly from Mumbai to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Following instructions from India’s security regulatory committee, the flight was promptly diverted to Delhi, where all passengers have disembarked and are currently at the terminal awaiting further instructions.
IndiGo’s Flight 6E 1275, bound for Muscat, also received a bomb threat. The aircraft was swiftly moved to an isolated bay at Mumbai Airport, where mandatory security checks were immediately carried out.
Another IndiGo flight, Flight 6E 56, operating from Mumbai to Jeddah, was also the subject of a similar threat. Security protocols were enacted to ensure the safety of passengers and the aircraft.
The bomb threats have raised significant concerns over airport security, leading to increased vigilance at Mumbai Airport. Authorities are actively investigating the source of these threats, though no suspects or motives have been identified so far.
Passengers and airport staff have been urged to remain patient as security measures continue to be reinforced.
