In a shocking incident reported on Monday, a 34-year-old programmer identified as Atul Subhash was discovered hanging at his Bengaluru residence. Atul left a 24-page death note and committed suicide, according to the authorities.
The techie, who was originally from Uttar Pradesh, resided in Bengaluru’s Manjunath Layout, which is inside the boundaries of the Marathahalli police station. He had been living alone after splitting from his wife and was a senior executive at a private company.
Twenty pages of the suicide letter that was discovered at Atul’s home were typed out, with four pages being handwritten.
“Justice is Due” was the opening line of Subhash’s 24-page note, which consisted of 20 typewritten pages and four handwritten pages. Citing persistent marital problems, he accused his wife, who works at Accenture, as well as her mother, brother, and uncle of harassing her. Additionally, he “symbolically” named his “innocent” four-year-old kid, whom he claimed had been used as a weapon to demand upkeep.
In his heartbreaking statement, Subhash described his experiences defending his wife and her family’s issues in a family court in Uttar Pradesh. Subhash’s note states that among the actions taken against him were:
Allegations of murder and unnatural sex
Demand of Rs 2 lakh per month in the form of maintenance
Before taking the drastic step, Atul Subhash left crucial details, including information about his death note, vehicle keys, and a list of completed and pending tasks, in a cupboard. He also placed a placard in his home that read, “Justice is due.”
The incident came to light when Atul sent an email late on Sunday night to an NGO that advocates for men facing domestic violence. The email expressed his intent to end his life, prompting the NGO staff to take immediate action. They alerted the police control room, sharing the details of Atul’s message. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police broke into Atul’s apartment and discovered him dead.
