A massive 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Tibet near the Nepalese border early this morning, killing nearly 100 people. and several others injured The tremors were felt across multiple regions in India, including Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake hit at 6:35 am, with Xizang, Tibet identified as the epicenter.
In Patna and Guwahati, residents were seen rushing out of their homes and apartments as the tremors rocked the region.
The seismic activity continued as two additional earthquakes hit the region shortly after the initial quake. The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.7, struck at 7:02 am, followed by a third quake of magnitude 4.9 at 7:07 am. Both aftershocks were recorded at varying depths—10 km for the second, and 30 km for the third.
Though the tremors were intense, particularly in Bihar, there have been no immediate reports of significant property damage. People in affected areas are advised to remain cautious as aftershocks continue to impact the region.
