Ahead of the Maharashtra elections, serious allegations have emerged against senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde for allegedly distributing money to influence voters. Tawde was reportedly surrounded by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) supporters at a hotel in Mumbai, leading to a tense standoff. However, Tawde has vehemently denied the accusations, calling them false.
The incident took place at a Hotel in Mumbai, where Tawde, along with local BJP leader Rajan Naik, was allegedly involved in distributing cash for votes. According to BVA workers, Tawde had come to the hotel with the intention of bribing voters. In response, BVA activists surrounded the hotel, sealing off the premises and causing significant commotion.
Rajan Naik, the BJP’s candidate from the Nalasopara-Virar seat, was also present at the time. Kshitij Thakur, the BVA candidate contesting against Naik, is one of the key figures behind the allegations. Thakur, who is also a sitting MLA, accused Tawde of bringing Rs 5 cror in cash to distribute, with an additional Rs 15 crore allegedly documented in a diary.
The altercation between the BJP and BVA workers quickly escalated, creating a tense and chaotic situation. For the past two hours, Tawde has been surrounded by BVA leaders inside the hotel, as the situation remains volatile.
The BVA is considered to have a strong presence in the region, and these allegations have intensified the political heat in the area as the election draws near. The BJP has yet to issue a formal response to the specific accusations, but Tawde continues to deny any wrongdoing.
As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact the political landscape in Maharashtra ahead of the elections.
