An IndiGo flight en route to Kolkata made an emergency landing at Raipur Airport on Thursday morning after receiving a bomb threat, sparking alarm among the crew and passengers on board.
The bomb threat prompted swift action from the airline, and the flight, originally headed from Nagpur to Kolkata, was rerouted to Raipur. Once the aircraft landed, all 187 passengers, along with the six-member crew, were evacuated and taken to a secure lounge at the airport.
Authorities acted quickly to ensure safety, and teams from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Raipur police carried out a thorough investigation of the aircraft. The plane was isolated in a special bay while security personnel conducted a meticulous search for several hours.
During the investigation, one passenger was taken into custody in connection with the threat. According to Santosh Singh, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Raipur, the detained individual is suspected of sending the threat message warning of a bomb on board.
The passenger is currently being questioned at Mana police station as authorities probe the motive behind the threat.
After the extensive search, no explosive device was found on the aircraft. With the all-clear given, the flight was allowed to continue its journey to Kolkata later in the day.
The incident has raised concerns about airport security and the safety of passengers, but authorities have reassured the public that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure such threats are thoroughly investigated.
As the investigation continues, the authorities are working to determine the full details of the incident and the reason behind the bomb threat.
