The vote counting for the Jharkhand Assembly elections is currently underway, with early trends indicating a strong lead for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led INDIA bloc over the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly, the JMM, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, contested 41 seats, while the remaining seats were shared with its allies: Congress (30 seats), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) (6 seats), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI(ML)) (4 seats). On the other side, the BJP contested 68 seats, with its allies All Jharkhand Students Union Party (AJSU) (10 seats), Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) (2 seats), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) (1 seat).
The state voted in two phases: on November 13 for 43 seats and on November 20 for 38 seats. The overall voter turnout was 67.74%, a 1.65% increase compared to the 2019 election turnout.
As per the latest trends, the JMM-led INDIA bloc is leading in 51 seats, with the JMM ahead in 31 seats, Congress in 14, RJD in 4, and CPI(ML) in 2. Meanwhile, the NDA is leading in 29 seats, with the BJP ahead in 26 seats, and its allies, AJSU, LJPRV, and JD(U), leading in one seat each.
With the counting still underway, all eyes are on the final results to determine whether the JMM-led INDIA bloc will retain power or the NDA will make a comeback in the state.
