Aliya Fakhri, the younger sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in the United States on charges of allegedly murdering her ex-boyfriend and one of his friends.
The incident took place in Queens, New York, on November 23, when Fakhri is accused of setting a two-storey garage on fire by igniting a pile of garbage. The fire led to the deaths of her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, and his 33-year-old friend, Anastasia Ettienne.
Fakhri reportedly took this drastic action after Jacobs rejected her attempts to rekindle their relationship. She now faces nine charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and one charge of arson.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Aliya Fakhri comes from a mixed heritage, with a Pakistani father, Mohammad Fakhri, and a Czech mother, Marie Fakhri. Aliya is scheduled to appear in court on December 9, according to the district attorney’s office.
