People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) decided to confer Meghalaya Environment Minister James P K Sangma with the ‘Progressive Business Concept Award’ for laying out concrete plans to produce ‘vegan leather’ in the Northeastern state of India.
PETA has been under criticism for various initiatives, steps and comments lately from various International, national and regional agencies for its stand for the welfare of animals.
- PETA has been criticised with various atrocities against animals and to name few are –
- PETA stealing and euthanizing pets
- Serial “mercy” killings
- Advocating the killing of certain breeds
- Funding arson and domestic terrorism
- Extreme and misleading campaigns for animals and humans
- Promoting pseudoscience
- Questionable usage of funds and influence
- Hypocrisy and Misinformation
These are just to name a few and then recently they even criticised Amul India and asked to produce vegan milk, for which PETA got a befitting answer from the Indian Government.
There are many instances that PETA has been violating animal welfare and which has been pointed out clearly by organisations and people worldwide in many instances.
