In a gripping turn of events following the tragic suicide of Atul Subhash earlier this month, his mother has filed a Habeas Corpus petition in the Supreme Court, seeking urgent information about the whereabouts of her son’s child. Atul, who worked for a private firm in Bengaluru, took his life, allegedly due to harassment from his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family.
Despite the arrest of Nikita, her mother Nisha, and brother Anurag, who have been charged with abetment of suicide, the child’s location remains unknown. The three individuals were taken into custody after Atul’s brother filed a complaint, and they are currently in judicial custody after appearing in court.
Authorities from three different states—Uttar Pradesh, where Nikita’s family hails from; Bengaluru, where the suicide occurred; and Haryana, where Nikita was arrested—have been involved in the case. However, none have been able to provide any information on the child’s whereabouts.
The Supreme Court has intervened in the matter, issuing a notice to the concerned authorities in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka, directing them to investigate and report on the child’s location. The Court has scheduled the next hearing for January.
Atul’s mother, in her plea, emphasized the complexity of the case due to the involvement of multiple states and called for the Court’s intervention to ensure justice. The case continues to unfold, with the nation watching closely as the investigation progresses.
