In a tragic road accident a woman and her infant daughter tragically lost their lives after drowning in the Barak River in Cachar, Assam, on Tuesday night.
The deceaseds have been identified as Helena Begum Borbhuyan and her daughter Jannatara Begum.
The family was traveling in their vehicle when it lost control and plunged into the river. Rais Uddin, Helena’s husband, was driving the vehicle and managed to escape by breaking the car’s window. Unfortunately, his wife and daughter were unable to escape and drowned.
Authorities responded swiftly to the incident. Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched an extensive search operation throughout the night.
On Wednesday morning, the bodies of Helena and Jannatara were recovered from the river.
Rais Uddin, who sustained injuries during the accident, is currently receiving treatment at the Silchar Medical College Hospital.
This tragic incident has left the community in shock as they mourn the loss of a mother and her young child.
