After receiving a notice from the Telangana government banning him from performing songs that promote alcohol and drugs during his Hyderabad concert, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh issued a bold challenge to state governments across India. He proposed that if alcohol consumption were banned nationwide, he would permanently stop singing songs that reference alcohol.
Diljit also addressed criticism from a TV anchor who had accused his fans of supporting him despite his alcohol-themed songs. In response, Diljit clarified, “I’ve never personally called anyone and asked if they drink. I’m just singing a song. Bollywood has plenty of alcohol-related songs, and I might have one or two. That’s it.”
He then challenged the government further, stating, “I won’t even sing those songs. It’s easy for me to change the lyrics, bro. Also, I don’t drink myself. Bollywood celebrities promote alcohol in ads, but I don’t. Don’t mess with me. I do my thing quietly and leave.”

In line with Gujarat’s dry state regulations, Diljit respected the rules by refraining from singing any alcohol-themed songs during his performance there.
