A deadly attack by Naxals claimed the lives of nine people, including eight jawans of the Dantewada District Reserve Guard (DRG) and their driver. The tragic incident occurred on Monday when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Bijapur district.
The attack took place near Ambeli village, under the Kutru police station, as the security personnel were returning from an anti-Naxalite operation. The blast hit their Scorpio vehicle, which was carrying DRG jawans from a joint operation involving the police forces from Dantewada, Narayanpur, and Bijapur.
Bastar Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj P confirmed the incident, expressing his condolences and stating that the team was returning after the operation when the blast took place.
Authorities are investigating the attack, and further details are awaited. This attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region as the battle between Naxals and security forces continues.
